No.

When can I expect to converse fluently in French?
There is no set time period to learn any language fluently, as it depends on age and aptitude. Students at the Alliance Française de York are encouraged to speak French from day one, even at Breakthrough level. It is recommended that you study at least 120 hours of French to be able to join in with unprepared conversations on topics covering everyday life (e.g. family, hobbies, work, travel).

What if I cannot speak French?
You can still enjoy many of our cultural & social events, where speaking French is not a requirement. See our Calendar for details.

Do you offer children’s classes?
We can offer children’s classes on request. We also assist with tuition for GCSE and A level students. Please contact us to discuss your specific requests.
