New teachers have joined the AFDY teaching team alongside those teachers who have been with us for some time. New premises will host classes offering a dynamic academic environment to your learning experience. The AFDY team looks forward to welcoming you to your course and our social and cultural activities.

NEW OFFER: SUMMER INTENSIVE COURSE
This course is made for you whether you want to start learning French, or to refresh your French for the summer, or to join our next academic year, or you do not have much time but want to learn French with us.
Our intensive course will be 6 sessions of 1.5h from Monday 1st July to Friday 12th July (exact times tbc).
During our lessons, you will work on the 4 skills (listening, reading, writing, speaking) as well as vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation. You will be split in groups according to your level.
Pricing: £145 (including £25 admin fee)
This course is subject to a minimum number of participants.

General French classes
General French courses are syllabus-based courses following a textbook which emphasises the 4-skills (listening, reading, writing, and speaking). They are ideal for learners of all levels who aim to progress to the next CEFR proficiency level and/or wish to sit the DELF exam.
Textbook: Défi 1 (A1), Défi 2 (A2), Défi 3 (B1)

Conversation & Grammar classes
Conversation & Grammar courses are centred on weekly conversation topics while still reviewing grammar and vocabulary points. Materials are provided by the teacher and include authentic documents such as articles, videos, or recordings. They are ideal for learners with an intermediate to advanced level who wish to practise their speaking and listening comprehension.
Fees for 2023-2024: £500 + £25 enrolment fee (membership included)
Possibility to pay in 2 or 3 instalments upon request.
In-person classes will be held at the Friargate Quaker Meeting House (Friargate, York YO1)
Hybrid classes will be held online (Zoom) and in person on alternate weeks.
