Sharing Poetry Twinning York-Dijon
York-Dijon Twinning Group would like to establish a sharing of poetry between York and Dijon, to help celebrate the twinning between York and Dijon, which started in 1953 and will be celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2023.
The York-Dijon Twinning Group has launched a Poetry-Share project for participants in York and Dijon.

Connaissez-vous, passant, le charme de Dijon,
Son antique castrum et sa gastronomie,
Ses savoureux menus, son éternel donjon,
Ses arts éblouissants et son Académie ?
Vos pas seront guidés au vœu de la chouette
Près de la Tour de Bar ou son Palais Ducal,
Au son du Jacquemart et de sa girouette
En goûtant un vin vieux pour le moins amical.
Dans ce décor parfait, autour de Notre Dame,
Au bel oiseau de pierre ardemment convoité,
Entre deux blanc-cassis, la Muse qui se pâme
Vous séduira, pensif, au cœur de la cité.
Que de mets succulents au détour des cuisines
Que de couplets sans fin pour le bon compagnon
Que de ceps enfantés et de grappes divines

Summer picnics in the shade of
stone ruins
cool to the touch
Cupping mulled wine at the Christmas market
earthy scent
of roasted chestnuts
samples of velvety fudge
call of street performers and chink (chink)
of coins on paving stones
York is home.
